Splittorn began to scramble up the stump of an old Acacia tree that used to hop the sunlight of this area. She used to sit under it's shade when she was young then the lightning storm ripped it down the termites finished it from there on and now all thats left is a stump she perches on occasionally to do a bit of a scouting job.
The heat from the dessert sun was almost un bearable but she had short light colored fur which made things a little easier on a leading women. A whole clan depending on you wasn't a easy job especially when your mateless and don't have a big male throwing his weight around keeping the rogue males at bay. All Slip had was her brother and he was just a big bodyguard and that was it. He just attacked everything not a Taint member. He was the only Meerkat Slip had ever seen leap at a hawk going for another member. Was he brave or just stupid.
She looked around and let out a muffled bark saying everything was ok and no one needed to rush back to the den anytime soon. She hadn't seen her clan since she woke up she had been sick maybe they went off to find her some herbs or something. She could only tell herself that her clan loved her and wanted her as a leader because it was yet to be proved.

What a day. What a terrible terrible day. It started out bad, and was only getting worse. Baako slowly struggled through the scrublands, her body trembling and swaying now and then. On her shoulder was a clear bite, that of a deadly adder. She had passed out from the pain at first, and when she reawoke had become disoriented and now...where was she? All she knew is that her shoulder was on fire, she couldn't get a sense of direction, and no matter how hard she tried she could not hold steady. It did not occur to her venom-addled mind that this would be her last day on earth.
Overhead, a gentle breeze blew and rustled some scrub, sending Baako into an irrational panic of which she began some frantically barking, thinking that the rustle was the wings of a hungry hawk. She scurried around and around in one spot, trying to find the predator, but everytime she tilted her nose upwards to look she nearly fell over...and did the last attept. She grunted lightly and just layed there for a moment before getting to her paws intensely slowly.

Split stood straight at the sound of distressed Meerkat calls. Could be one of her Clan members or simply lost Meerkat in trouble. The wind blew and Split turned her head to protect her eyes from the flying sand. She quickly saw a drunken look of a Meerkat stumbling and swaying. A closer bit of observation gave Split the conclusion this new female was in trouble. A flick of the tail up ward and she darted off to the aid of this stranger. Her clan was fierce not heartless anyone non threatening or covered in the sickly smell of another clan would be tended to in the proper fashion.
Split ran up on the female as it tumbled over and gasped for breath. Her shoulder was right in Splits face and the smell of Adder was still upon this little one. Split quickly went into action. Barking like a mad dog Split took off in search of a scorpion no matter the size just a Scorpion the two venoms would fight each other Scorpion would win and the left over venom is harmless to Meerkats.
Split came around a bush and found a medium sized black Scorpion. Mili seconds passed and she had lacerated the scorpions stinger and had it and the body in her mouth of leaping in the wounded Meerkats direction. Split stooped next to the stranger and spoke softly yet very firm "Listen don;t move after this is in you until I say understand me." after her strict orders Split bit into the tail barb of the Scorpion and dripped the leaking poison into the Meerkat's wound. She saw a slight bubbling effect and the wound became very very red quickly. The healing process started almost immediately.
"When the burning stops sit up and eat his body so you won't be so empty on energy while your body heals."
Split was glad to help and hadn't seen anyone from her clan all day she didn't have much to do till then.

At first, the scorpion poison stung like heck which sent Baako into a weak kicking spree accompanied with wide dilated eyes. Soft whimperings that might have been attempted barks issed from the female's closed mouth, then her movements stopped. Her pupils were still dilated, her breathing slow and shallow. Nothing was really registering in her mind anymore, she heard but didn't comprehend. The voice she was hearing kept very slowly getting fainter, and it had a bit of an echo effect to it. Baako felt very tired, and her muscles finally relaxed after an entire day of being tense since the bite was inflicted. Out of nowhere, it had came out of nowhere... What had? Wait..where was she? Who was that? Baako's vision was beginning to tunnel and she found it hard to focus, but her eyes remained locked on Splittorn. Was this who had bit her? Now she had returned to finish the job. It seemed in Baako's struggling mind that this was the truth, and that this meerkat was simply watching her die. For pleasure, perhaps? What pleasure? Who was that? It seemed it was too late, the scorpion's 'medicine' would not counteract the adder's venom in time. As Baako's vision blacked out, her mind's frantically struggling thoughts began to filter out until there was just one thing left...Hello mother Wait, why was her mother here? Mother had died late last night. A zombie?! Hello Baako Her mother's voice was sad, and her mouth did not move when she talked. Infact, she looked different. Kind of faded out, kind of wispy. Come with me, I'll explain on the way. Okay... She took a step. The last breath left Baako.

Splittorn watched as the Meerkat took her last breath. Split tried to help but it was simply t late. When she found her clan there would be a ceremony of some sort for this Meerkat or not it died on her land and was going to be sent home properly.
Now to handle that nearby . She couldn't sit idly as a Adder attacked Meerkats on her land. This snake would have to be dealt with and she was going to call on the right sibling for the job. Flatdrag was a big girl and a good fighter against things her size or bigger small was a problem for her though but this Adder will be huge and it would take the two sisters of the Trilogy to handle it.
"Flatdrag come to me I need a Guard for a Predator with boundary issues!" she knew that was all that need be said before Flat and a few other members of her clan were on their way for assistance to the Queen.

She had been checking out the borders of the territory with another clan member, sniffing each scent she came across and giving a warning bark to any figure outside of the border which might have been a stranger meerkat. The only reason she was with the other clan member was because it was always safer to keep together, never alone. The helper kept her eyes to the sky as Flatdrag scouted the area, but when she heard her sister's voice ring out into the air the Guard whipped around, then turned to look sternly at her assistant. "Pick up where I'm leaving off, find another clan member to assist you." she didn't even wait for an answer from the female, and turned to bound off as quick as she could towards her sister and dominant. It only took her a matter of a minute before she slowed to a halt and trotted up next to Splittorn. "What do you need of me?" she asked before spotting the still female on the ground. "What happened?" she asked, glaring down at the obviously dead meerkat. The deceased had fallen on the side where she recieved the bite, so Flatdrag did not see the cause of death. The Guard stared down at the corpse, chilled by how the meerkat's eyes were open and staring directly at her sister. Slowly, she reached over and gently closed the deceased's eyes.

Just as Splittorn had expected her sister came bounding across the territory slowing down before getting to her. Granted she had forgot to show a sign of submission but Split knew it was a very hectic moment to run across the territory and show p to the scene of your sister on all fours next to a dead Meerkat.
The sun was beating down warmly on the black marks on her back and she could feel and occasional sting as it hit a raw spot in her ever healing scars. The sand under feet was hot and felt good between her toes as she gripped the ground while growing fuller and fuller with anger. She despised snakes especially poisonous ones she knew in the Rainforests there were ones that would squeeze you to death what way would be worse to go? Her cousin Flower fell to the bight of a deadly Adder and her nephew was bitten as well but he lived. She knew that clan was being led by a new in experienced female but she hadn't the time to visit the clan ever with her duties of Matriarch all she ever got was a bit of news from Slicebreath an all purpose messenger of her Clan.
Splittorn looked at Flatdrag snapping out of the thought of their cousin in far away lands. Every snake bite victim brought Flower into Splittorn's mind and that is way they were to be immediately evicted from her land if not killed. "She was bitten by an Adder. It is still slinking around some here waiting for un expecting Meerkats to bite and then follow the to their death we will wait here for him." Splittorn turned to the direction of which the Meerkat had come and new she should expect her guest the Adder to come from that same direction. She then turned back to Flatdrag with a intellectual twinkle in her eye as if she had an idea.
"Find a place to hide Flat when he shows up we will ambush him during the night after he has began to take his pray we will catch him in the middle of his act and I will question him before the attack. You know I am still trying to find the one that killed Flower maybe he has come here to hide." Splittorn turned back to look in the direction of which the nameless Meerkat that lied dead next to her feet had come from.

Flatdrag listened intently to her sister, her gaze a no-nonsense, stern countenance. When Splittorn mentioned that the stranger had been bitten by an adder, the Guard's lips twitched angrily. She, too, was reminded of her cousin Flower but she had not been as close to the female as Splittorn had been so her memory was short-lived. Snakes were such filthy creatures, letting their prey suffer before seeking it out and swallowing it all whole. And to be able to move so fast with no legs? Anything like that would make her wary. Worms, they didn't have legs either but they were very slow...and tasted good. Her attention was wrenched back when her sister spoke up again. At her instructions, Flatdrag nodded in agreement. "Clever idea, it's times like these when I remember you're the dominant one." she said gently, remembering she had forgotten to submit so she rolled to the ground and curled onto her side, giving Splittorn's paw a little lick.
