He would lie and wait. He would lie and wait for something to approach him, then he would strike. Coiled under a large rock, he stayed silent, deadly, the puff adder with a dark coat, fitting in no where with open ground. But it was night time, the darkness around them told him that, and daybreak would be out soon, as the edge of the sky was starting to show some lovelier colors in it, lightening to the touch. He hissed against it, cursing under his breath, and coiled up into the darkness of the two rocks as best as he could. Then, a bird landed down, a small juvenile, and he gave it no thought, striking out and poisoning it, but holding it there, as the thing started to thwart it about the head with its beak, only for him to laugh scornfully as it died. He wrapped lightly around it, then wrapped his lips around the front of it's head, then started to work over it. Lips walking along its body, he pulled it slowly, sickeningly into his mouth, bringing it towards his stomach, as he eventually swallowed it, and then curled back into his small hole.

(AN: Do you mind if I enter this? I just wanted to try out Chipo here)
Chipo's flat nose pulsated as she sniffed the air frantically. She could smell snake, a cold smell that made her shudder in fear rather than bristle her fur and meet the snake with bared, pointed fangs. She wasn't much of a fighter, and lacked the 'meanness' she was supposed to have. Nonetheless, Chipo flattened herself on the ground, feeling the pounding vibrations of her own heart against the dirt. She could smell the bugs underground too, worms wiggling nearest the entrance of the hole. If she wasn't so hungry, she wouldn't have bothered to come all this way in desperiation.
But there was a snake there...
She could go back to get help, but she was Chipo, and she wondered if anyone would help her chase away the snake.

[Its an Open thread so I don't mind.] A gleam caught in his eyes, as he slithered from under a rock, to a new one, pressing within their confines, making his trip around nearest her. She slithered out into the open once, slithering on, his huge body racking across the desert ground, and gently colliding into the rock as he slithered into its safety. He wasn't afraid of the Meerkat, or any for that matter, for fear was something he seemed to be born without, and he took pride in harming the others. So instead, he poked his head out, lifting it, with some of his body slithering out, off the ground from the current safety of the rocks, and held it up high. "My what a pressssent." He hissed into the air, his head wavered slightly where it stood, tall and proud was he of his skills. His tongue held out of his mouth, slithering into the air and tasting its waves, then sneaking back into his mouth for safety, hiding within its confines. His tongue stretched back out, taking in his smell as well, then back in, and he could see within her the fear that drove him closer. He snaked towards her, swirling around her partway, yet giving her room to run should she try and make a run for it.

Chipo could see it slowly distending itself as it moved its flat head towards her. Its forked tongue flickered back and forth, tasting her scent. She noticed that it gave her every opportunity to run, but then again--what about the bugs--?
Well, they would do her no good if she was dead. So she either decided to fight or flee and get some help in chasing away this snake.
Twisting around, she jerked her body away from the snake and made a run back home, hoping for help.
